Hello, This is my first go at a blog and I feel I need to drop a bit of background information your way. We have both had a long-held dream (like many others) of upping sticks and moving to France, we have holidayed in the summer and winter in France for the last twenty odd years, this has cemented our love of this amazing, diverse country. We always find that as soon as we have crossed the water we both relax and returning home made us feel we were going in the wrong direction. Early 2015 we were fortunate to be able to go skiing in Val Thorens. Prior to the trip, we offered up our house to an estate agent in the vague hope that he may be able to sell it for us sometime this year! One week later we had an asking price offer! Panic stations were sounded and the internet search started immediately for our French home and somewhere temporary in England to tide us over until the move. Amazingly the flat above our golf clubhouse was available so we quickly snapped that up. We then booked a week staying in a Gite in the North Dordogne and arranged with a variety of different estate agents to view some properties, twenty in all as it turned out. The one I was least interested in (on paper) is the one you can see on this website but in reality, it had a beautifully renovated farmhouse, swimming pool, studio Gite, outbuildings to renovate and a nice sized plot of land in a lovely peaceful location. We pick up the keys at the end of August and plan to have two other cottages ready to rent by summer 2016. I'm hoping to chart the progress of our move and the renovations in future blog entries.
